The Deplorable State Of Road In Ikotun Market, Lagos

A source close to one of our team members shared the irksome pictures and a video of the deplorable state of a road in Ikotun market in Lagos. Ikotun, a busy commercial hub of Alimosho LGA is a suburb of Lagos State which is experiencing rapid growth in population and business settlement.

Ikotun market which is widely known for its price-based method of dealing with sales has about 8,400 lock-up shops and over 10,000 traders thereby topping the list of one of the biggest markets in Lagos and a major contributor to the growth of the economy of the state.

The market is
headed by BABA OJA and IYA OJA couple with several market unions which is not only headed by the Yorubas but also headed by people from other ethnic groups across Nigeria.

Recall that, in November 2018, Vice President, his excellency,
Prof. Yemi Osinbajo led other federal government officials to share TraderMoni during the electioneering period. Alimosho produces the highest number of votes, yet the most underdeveloped.

More mind-boggling is the fact the market is beside the LGA secretariat.  This is a slap on the face of the Lagos state government. We urge Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode to look into this with swift action because this is an embarrassment. Said the source.

Below are the pictures and a video of the road:
